About this Cause

John and Katie Ferch have been focused on training indigenous church leaders ever since completing their seminary training at Moody Bible Institute. For six years they served in Alaska, where they discipled Alaska Native believers in a traditional academic setting. During this time they experienced firsthand the unique needs of oral learners, and John began researching how to better meet these needs through his doctoral studies at Western Seminary. In 2021, they joined the Oral Bible Translation (“OBT”) team at Spoken Worldwide. John serves as an OBT Consultant/Trainer, mentoring indigenous Bible translators using an entirely oral approach. The Ferches are based in the US, training local church leaders around the world through a combination of video conferencing and frequent personal visits.
